Community Choirs

Most of these choirs are run on the principles of the Natural Voice Network: they are open to everyone regardless of ability or experience. There are no auditions, we learn the songs by ear and sing without written music.
We sing a wide variety of songs from all around the world, for example: songs from Georgia and Eastern Europe; Congolese songs and songs from other parts of the African continent; 60's classic songs and other pop. Sometimes we sing songs written specially for community choirs. We love anything with a mouthwatering harmony and funky bassline!

CASTLEFIELDS COMMUNITY CHOIR

Fortnightly on Monday, 10.30-11.45. Buddhist Centre, Queen Street

This laid back choir is made up of people from the Castlefields area of Shrewsbury, and Beyond.

The room has beautiful acoustics, as it has a stunning wooden floor and high ceiling.

Having said that…..we have sometimes tempted outside to sing in the meditative and circular garden.

None of the neighbours have complained…yet!

Sometimes we join forces with other choirs to take part in singing events going on in and around Shrewsbury as the choir is quite small (25 or so people usually).

We laugh a lot and as one singer said….’the week really does start on a high note!’

This choir has been going since 2014 and many people have been members since the beginning. We have a tremendously strong sense of community and support each other through the trials and tribulations of life. We also love to celebrate birthdays/children/grandchildren…in fact, we love any excuse for a special cake and a laugh.

Many of the members have special enthusiasms for a variety of charities and the group loves to get involved.

We love to welcome new members who can come and try out 2 or 3 ‘taster’ sessions with us, and then we ask you to sign up for a term or half term.

The choir loves to get involved with other singing events and has taken part in Sing for Water Shrewsbury, Singing on the Sabrina Boat, Sing Away the Winter Blues and an annual residential trip to Borth Youth Hostel for a weekend of Singing and Fun.

THE LION CHOIR

Tuesday evenings in The Quaker Centre, Corporation Road, Shrewsbury 7.15-8.45
DATES FOR SUMMER TERM 2026

The choir is friendly and welcoming.. Anyone can come regardless of experience.You can come for a taster session (or 2) and then sign up for a term or half term.

We are a fun and informal choir who sing and like to have a good laugh and maybe have a drink after choir. We learn songs by ear and make a great sound. The harmonies are sumptuous and the choir members are friendly!

This choir meets on Monday evenings in Welshpool. All songs will be taught by ear and we are welcoming new members. Get in touch with Roxane if you are interested. Or just turn up at 7pm to say hello and find a seat. There are great acoustics and wonderful harmonies.
