Community Choirs

Roxane runs a community choir in Shrewsbury on alternate Monday Mornings, plus three community choirs on a weekly basis: one in Machynlleth, one in the evening in Shrewsbury (a new-ish choir) and one in Oswestry. There is also a choir in Welshpool, which meets on the 1st Friday of each month and an after-work choir in Telford Hospital. We stop for short breaks at Christmas, Easter and summer!

You can see more details on the diary page.

Shrewsbury: this new-ish choir will start meeting on Wednesday evenings in the Quaker Centre. There will be an opportunity for people new to singing to learn in a friendly and supportive environment 6.15-7.30. Contact Roxane for further details.

Machynlleth: the choir is called Machapella and meets on Thursday 6-8 in the Owain Glyndwr Institute. We often go to the pub after to enjoy the afterglow of a good sing and have a natter.

Oswestry: following a research project from Oxford University and organised by the WEA, a regular choir has been going for 3 years and meets on Tuesday mornings.Contact Roxane for further details.

Shrewsbury: this choir meets on alternate Mondays at 12-2 in The Buddhist Centre in Castlefields, Shrewsbury.

Welshpool: the choir meets on the First Friday of the month in New Street Church.

Telford: This choir meets at 5.45-7 in PRH, go home on a high, not stressed out from work.

Most of these choirs are run on the principles of the Natural Voice Practioners’ Network: they are open to everyone regardless of ability or experience, there are no auditions, we learn the songs be ear and sing without written music. We sing songs from all round the world: from Eastern Europe to Africa, from Beachboys to Bulgaria. Anything with a mouthwatering harmony will do!
